It can dim pixels individually, so bright objects and subtitles are displayed perfectly, with no visible blooming. Small highlights are brighter than on the C8 or B8, but this results in a more aggressive Automatic Brightness Limiter (ABL), which dims the screen significantly when larger areas of the screen get bright. Unfortunately, LG has dropped DTS decoding from their 2020 TVs. However, the Samsung uses an LCD panel with Mini LED as backlighting, so it's much brighter, allowing it to make highlights pop in HDR. The results have been updated, but they're within the same ballpark as our original measurements. The LG has an OLED panel with a much higher contrast ratio for deeper blacks, and it also has wider viewing angles and a quicker response time. The brightness was about the same before calibration. LG The TCL gets a lot brighter in SDR, meaning it can handle more glare. The interface is occasionally slow to respond to remote inputs, especially when switching between apps and the home screen. HDMI 1 and 2 support 4k @ 120Hz signals with up to 12-bit color depth and chroma 4:4:4, meaning it supports up to 48 Gbps, which is the maximum allowed under the HDMI 2.1 bandwidth. Anything beyond 25% of the whole screen gets dimmed by the ABL (Automatic Brightness Limiter), and this affect the final score, making it an average performer when compare to any similar priced, LED TVs. Its fast and robust with nearly every major service present and accounted for, plus its deeply customizable and works with both major smart assistants. The LG has an OLED panel with a near-infinite contrast, perfect black uniformity, and wide viewing angles. With a native 120Hz refresh rate and HDMI 2.1, PS5 and Xbox Series X owners can get the maximum resolution and frame rate from their new hardware, while high-end PC owners will have a solid option should they decide to connect their PC to their TV via HDMI. It also has much wider viewing angles, better color accuracy, a wider color gamut, and more gaming features. As always we should point out that premium really premium LCD TVs can deliver significantly more brightness with full screen images and peak HDR highlights than even the OLED65G2 can. The only real issue we noticed is that, if you dont have sound leveling turned on, audio can be a bit all over the place meaning youll hear booming bass and nearly sibilant highs with weaker dialogue when watching that big new Hollywood blockbuster. During dark scenes is where the brightness of the OLED panel really shined. This results in a much brighter EOTF, but it doesn't change the peak brightness. On the other hand, the Samsung can get quite a bit brighter and has lower input lag. LG It's also brighter than most OLED panels, making it an excellent choice for watching TV shows or sports in a bright room, and the image remains accurate at a wide angle, so it's great for a wide seating arrangement. The LG C2 OLED is part of the LG 2022 TV lineup with most models in the range having been released in March 2022 and a few sizes coming a bit later. Im loathe to admit it, but you might actually want to consider turning on the TruMotion motion smoothing feature and setting it to Cinematic Movement or Natural options to reduce the judder; neither causes the soap opera effect that overzealous motion smoothing settings can produce.
